The math curriculum that many of us have been utilizing is not working for our students. They are uninterested when they enter our math classrooms because the math, to them, is not engaging.  They have a difficult time relating math to their everyday lives.  It is not enough to tell them that they will “need this in the future” or “to pass the test.”  If we do not reach our students today, and show them that math can be useful, we might lose them.

The purpose of this blog is to gather and share engaging instructional ideas for math that are correlated to the Common Core Math Standards for middle school students, grades 6-8.  In essence, as an educational community, we are going to collaborate to create our own math curriculum.
